GE recalls Combo Wall Ovens

General Electric has announced a voluntary recall of some 92,000 units of their Built-in Combination wall and Microwave ovens. According to the press release, the units are fire hazards since door switch in the microwave oven can overheat and ignite plastic components in the control area.

The Built-in Combination Wall and Microwave Ovens are sold under the brand name GE, GE Profile and Kenmore. Affected models can be found here.

For customers who will be returning their products, GE is offering a free repair or rebate on a new product, a $300 rebate for the purchase of a new GE brand unit or $600 rebate for the purchase of a new GE Profile brand unit. Sears is offering a free repair or $300 rebate for the purchase of a new Kenmore unit.
