Iron Man 2 Gadgets

So, I've seen the movie, lots of gadgets, explosions, in short, it was awesome. I haven't seen much product placements, at least in terms of gadgets. If you have any high res screenshots that you want me to identify, I'll try my best to identify it. Anyways, here are some of the gadgets I've seen in Iron Man 2.

Penny Pott's mobile phones

It's easy to identify mobile phones in movies, just look for who's sponsoring the film. In this case, it's LG. So, Penny Pott's mobile phone is sort of a flip landscape phone while the front looks like a regular mobile phone. I wasn't able to get a closer look but it could be any of the LG EnV mobile phones shown below.

LG EnV Touch

LG enV3

Tony Stark's phone/PDA

When Tony was trying to figure out a new element while watching his father's videos, he was busy reading a book and tapping away on his PDA or nowadays, it might be a smartphone. Now this is a bit tricky. I don't know any LG phones with a flip cover. Touchscreens with flip covers are Motorola's specialty but I don't think the latter is a sponsor on the Iron Man 2 movie. Anyways, here's the closest phones I could find that match Tony Stark's phone in Iron Man 2.

Motorola Krave ZN4

HP Jornada 928

Microsoft Surface

When Scarlett Johanssen was first seen in the movie, Tony Starks was boxing and he decided to do a research on Scarlett on a table that's also a computer. Now while this seems futuristic, Microsoft Surface has already been around and almost does the same thing.

Tony Stark's cars

Now this is easy. Tony Stark's car are easy to spot because Audi has already released a press release announcing what models were featured in the movie.

The Dark Knight's living room by Bang and Olfusen

Since I still haven't found any screenshots of Morgan Freeman's mobile phone in Dark Knight movie, I thought I might start the gadget identification in the movie by starting with his living room.
The LCD TV you see as well as some of the gadgets on their is by Bang and Olfusen. Take a look at the screenshot I've grabbed from the Bang and Olfusen website below. Pretty cool but I guess you also need the trust fund of Bruce Wayne to afford the whole set.

More gadgets from Iron Man

Update: Iron Man 2 Gadgets post now up.

Speaking of Iron Man movie, here are more added gadgets which I've seen from the movie.

Tony Starks has Mac

Looks like Tony Starks owns an Apple Computer in his workstation at home. When you look at the picture below, you can see the Apple logo just barely peeking from the monitor on the left side. Photo courtesy of IGN.

Mac AND Dell??

I don't get it, Tony, so which one is it? Do you prefer Macs or PCs because from what I can see, your office computer is a Dell PC. The one pictured below is a Dell XPS M2010 portable pc.

Micrsoft and The Island Movie

I was watching The Island the other day and I couldn't help seeing how the movie was just one big advertisement for Microsoft. I mean, you could see Microsoft's logo everywhere. Though when I saw the Microsoft Surface being used I have to admit, it is really something. I was reminded of Iron Man when Tony Stark was working on his workbench designing the holographic image of his Iron Man suit. Now if Microsoft Surface has the ability to project holographic images like that, then the Surface would become the ultimate Workbench for engineers.

Gadgets on Iron Man

Update: Gadgets on Iron Man 2 post now up.

I've just came home from watching Iron Man and I have to say that is the best damn Super Hero Movie I've seen in a while. I was actually quite surprised and I wasn't expecting to like it. Maybe it's because the movie is so full of gadgets that's why a gadget lover like me was enamored by it. Anyways, there were many mouthwatering gadgets on the movie but here are just three that I actually remember. Sorry, no movie screen shots, just the actual products:

Tony Stark's / Iron Man's Mobile Phone: LG VX9400

Frankly I was surprised and disappointed after seeing Tony Stark's mobile phone. It's an LG VX9400. I'm pretty sure of it, having reviewed it before (see my LG VX9400 review). It's the only phone with a rotating screen. Though the LG VX9400 does have a coolness factor for their screen and the ability to watch TV on the go, I doubt that a businessman and a rich guy like Tony Stark would settle for it.

Tony Stark's / Iron Man's car: 2008 Audi R8

Finding Tony Stark's car was easy. There was no mistaking that 4 circles so I knew that his car was an Audi. It was only a matter of Googling before I found his car. There are only a handful of Audi sports cars out there. The 2008 Audi R8 has a V8 engine and is an all-wheel drive. Pretty cool but I still associate Ferrari's with the rich and famous.

Tony Stark's / Iron Man's home phone: VTech LS5145

Come on, with that 2 second on screen time, it's hard to miss this VTech cordless phone. It's easy enough to find since VTEch only has four cordless phones with picture caller id feature. It has picture caller id because Gwyneth Paltrow's face popped up when she called. This is just a guess though but the VTech LS5145 has other cool features aside from picture caller id. You can use MP3 or polyphonic ringtones, can connect to Bluetooth phones, and has a 64k color LCD.

Well, that's it. Anyways, watch Iron Man to see other cool cars and gadgets. Can't wait for the sequel (I hope it has one).

iPhone Shows up at CSI Las Vegas

In the previous episode of CSI Las Vegas entitled “Grissom’s Divine Comedy”, the Apple iPhone has a brief TV time wherein Catherine shows off the picture sending capabilities of the iPhone. Check out the pic wherein she takes a picture of the crime scene and sends it to Grissom’s email account since he’s at home, sick.

Though the producers try to be subtle about this product endorsement (they didn’t show the Apple Logo at the back of the phone since the iPhone is conveniently tucked in a protective glove-like case. But of course, there’s no mistaking that 3 inch screen and the photo options.

This particular show of the possible uses of the iPhone may wow some not so tech savvy person but of course, not me. If Catherine has a 3G enabled phone say, Nokia N95, an HTC smartphone, etc, she would have video-called Grissom and take him on a tour of the crime scene REAL time. Also, I doubt that the picture taken my Catherine is THAT great in real life since the iPhone doesn’t have autofocus and Grissom will probably miss all the little details that Grissom always “miraculously” sees whenever he’s at a crime scene.

I also thought that Apple has taken over the sponsorship of CSI Las Vegas because when the camera pans to Grissom, he opens up his laptop to check Catherine’s photos on his email. Because of my blurry eyes, I initially thought that Grissom was sporting a Mac, but no, it’s actually a Dell Inspiron E1705. Check out the screenshot of the Dell E1705 in another scene below.

I wonder what other features of the iPhone that the producers would think of using next in order to help solve a crime? Would we see Catherine browsing the Internet on the Safari Browser on the iPhone or using iPhone’s cool interface in zooming in and out of mug shots? Probably depends on how much Apple will be willing to fork over. Maybe there will be a cameo of the Macbook Air in a manila envelope!

Gadgets in TV Shows: CSI Las Vegas Season 8 Episode 11

This gadget that we spotted comes from CSI Las Vegas, Season 8 Episode 11. I forgot what the title was but it was the one with the cowboy and all that bull riding. When the cowboy was in the morgue and Catherine and that assistant in the morgue took off the cowboy's boots, we see a bunch of things come out and one that fell out was a cellphone. The guy quickly grabbed it and it was too quick for anyone to really notice but I've managed to get a screenshot and here it is below.

So what kind of cellphone is it? Well, judging from the M logo and the thin style, it's a Motorola Razr phone but since Motorola probably released a couple of RAZR models, which one is it? Well, from the big camera lens in the front and the little opening below the Motorola logo, it's a Motorola RAZR V3.

The Motorola RAZR V3 is a very popular model, I don't know whether it's because Motorola has been sponsoring most of the TV shows in the US but I've managed to catch of a glimpse of the Motorola RAZR phones in TV shows as well as in movies.

Well, since half of America probably owns a Motorola RAZR, I won't go into much detail, just that this one is pretty much standard with a 1.3 megapixel camera. Nothing really awesome but it's a decent and solid phone. If I were you, better get the new RAZR2 models.

Gadgets in TV Shows: Prison Break Boxed In

So I've decided to do a new segment on my blog called Gadgets in Movies/TV Shows wherein I attempt to identify the models of the gadgets used in a particular movie or show in case you're interested in buying the same one. First up, we have the recent episode of Prison Break which is boxed in. As you can see, Lincoln has a mobile phone which looks like a Blackberry, there's no doubting the QWERTY keypad and the design but which model is it?

Based on the back side of the device and the color of the QWERTY keyboard (see encircled portion), this device is a Blackberry 8700.

It's a fairly old model of the Blackberry, released in 2004 and is probably obsolete by now which means you probably won't get the chance to buy the same model, but you could opt for a newer model of the Blackberry like the Blackberry Pearl and the 8300 Curve which as a built-in digital camera.
