Safest Way to Back-up Files

Let's face it, when it comes to your important files and documents, you can never have too many back-ups. If fate is against you, chances are even if you have backed-up your files on two different hard drives, it can still get corrupted. So what's the safest way to back-up your files? Well, the safest bet is to have three back-ups, all on different media. In the old days, it used to be three backups on three different floppy disks but floppy disks are unreliable and could easily fail. Now there are a lot of media options for you to back-up your files.

In my case I have three back-up media: CD/DVD rom, flash disk drive, and online backup. Since these are three different media, there's less risk that all three will fail at the same time. I've included online backup because well, let's face it, you don't have to carry any media around and you can access it anywhere where there's an internet connection. Plus, online backup services also backs-up your back-up files in order to protect themselves from any liability.

You can include your preferred media or mix it up. There's Blu-ray disks, memory cards and portable hard drives. If you're the obsessive compulsive type, you can go overboard and backup your files on every available media there is. SO go crazy and backup your data now.
