The Sony Mylo Pocket Communicator

With so many mobile phones out in the market that are already packed with online communication features, one wonders why Sony would release a communicator that looks so much like a mobile phone yet, without the mobile phone calling feature.

Sony dubbed their communicator "mylo" which stands for "my life online". The small device lets users instant message, browse the internet, listen to music, view photos or send emails. The communicator comes pre-installed with instant messaging services like Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, and Skype. Though the device cannot make calls through the mobile phone network, users through the use of Skype can make free internet calls to other Skype users worldwide. Mylo has a built-in 1 GB internal memory but supports expansion through the Sony's proprietary Memory Stick Duo Media.

Mylo will be available in September and will cost $350.
