Security Cable for Laptops

Kensington Technology Groups has has launched a new security cable lock for laptops in the Korean Market. The Kensington Security Cable has a four-digit password to further enhance security (as if tying a metal cable on your laptop to keep it secure isn't enough...I mean, really, who carries around a blowtorch nowadays?)

But I guess this gadget will be popular for those who're always using their laptops in public places. Anyways, if you buy this gadget and you still end up losing your laptop, word of advice: Bring your notebook the next time you go to the loo.

Cheap $279 Zonbu Notebook

Okay, so it isn't exactly the EEE, XO or classmate PC but the Zonbu Notebook is right up there with the three competing for the cheapest notebook in the market.

The Zonbu Notebook has a 15.4 inch widescreen display, 1.5 GHz VIA processor, 512MB memory, 60GB hard disk drive, DVD-ROM/CD-RW optical drive, and VIA Chrome9 HC IGP graphics card. Connectivity options on the Zonbu Notebook includes 3 USB ports, Ethernet port, and built-in 802.11 b/g WiFi. The Zonbu Notebook is made by EVEREX and weighs only 2.4 kg.

So why is the Zonbu Notebook so cheap? Well, like the EEE, XO, and Classmate PC, it doesn't rely on the Windows Operating System or Microsoft Office, instead, it has 20 of the best open source applications. Aside from the $279 hardware price, you will also need to pay a $14.95 monthly service plan for the Zonbu Notebook. This covers services for online backing up of data, free tech support and maintenance of the operating system.

For those who're new to computers, this will probably be a good choice and Zonbu's service plan will eliminate any headaches that comes with troubleshooting a notebook.

NEC Powermate P5010

This is a totally cool desktop PC from NEC, the NEC Powermate P5010. Like the Apple iMAC, Dell XPS One, and Gateway One, the NEC Powermate P5010 has a minimalist and space saving design. However, unlike its competitors, the NEC Powermate P5010 is designed to be portable, with a handle on the monitor for easy portability.

The NEC Powermate P5010 is also lightweight, weighing only 4 kg. Specifications of the device include: AMD Turion 64x2 1.6 GHz processor TL-52, 17.1 inch widescreen color LCD, 1GB DDR2 memory upgradeable to 2GB, and 200GB SATA Hard disk drive. The NEC Powermate P5010 also has an integrated 802.11b/g Wireless LAN adapter, and a slot-loading DVD Super Multi drive.

Personally, I love the design concept, I just wish they made the handle a little less discreet. The "flex bar" looks like the handle of a grocery shopping cart. The NEC Powermate P5010 is unfortunately, not available in the US market. It is currently only available in Japan and Australia.

The HP iPAQ 510 Review

Contrary to what Apple lovers believe, smart phones doesn't equal iPhone. Windows Mobile users who are looking for more traditional looking smartphones may want to take a look at the HP iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger.

SPECIFICATIONS: The HP iPAQ 510 runs on Windows Mobile 6 OS, it has a 2 inch display, a 200 MHz OMAP processor, 64MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM, microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth, WiFi, 1.3 mega pixel camera and VOIP capabilities.

ADVANTAGES: What I like about the HP iPAQ 510 is its traditional candy bar design. While most people view smart phones as somewhat Blackberry and iPhone looking, the HP just went with a simple design. If you're using Microsoft documents, you can view MS word, Excel and PowerPoint slide shows as well as browse the internet using Pocket Internet Explorer. The device also allows you to integrate your Company's Email using Microsoft Exchange. The HP iPAQ 510 also has VoIP and WiFi capabilities so you can save on mobile phone voice calls.

DISADVANTAGES: While most PDA phones nowadays run on 400MHz of processor, with the iPhone having a 600MHZ ARM processor, the HP iPAQ 510's 200 MHz OMAP processor is definitely lacking and you may come across certain hiccups when trying to multi-task on the device. There's also no 3G connectivity, you're stuck using EDGE networks if you're trying to connect to the Internet away from a hotspot. Since the HP iPAQ 510 went with the traditional candy bar design, expect a cramped keypad.

Gadget Gift Idea: Wireless Key Finder

Okay, here's another cool gadget to give out this Christmas: Wireless key finder. I know a lot of people tend to lose their keys and wallets especially at very urgent times like when you're late for a meeting.

The FOFA XD wireless device comes in two versions, a key fob and a credit card sized wallet version. You can attach these devices anywhere: keys, wallets, cell phones, remotes, etc. The FOFA XD wireless device doesn't come with a base unit, I think you have to get two devices so you can find the other. I think the company's idea is that you always lose the ones that you need most when you're late and find the ones that you don't so if you do find the one that you don't need, you just press a button to find the one that you're looking for.

Seems kinda complicated especially for the unlucky ones who really can't find anything (me!). I mean, what if you're looking for both your wallet and your keys, how the heck are you going to find them without a base unit? So I guess the idea is that you have to buy at least 3 devices in order to be sure that you won't get stuck in the situation wherein both your units is not anywhere in sight.

Oh well, I guess each company is entitled to use any strategy to sell their stuff.

MHZ2 BH: 320GB SATA Hard Disk Drive from Fujitsu

Savannah City Tours

Frequent travelers may want to check out Trusted Tours and Attractions since if you sign-up to receive their newsletter you will be entered into a raffle where you can get a chance to win four free tickets to tours in a city of your choice. Their newsletter will keep you updated of their latest discount and promos.

Speaking of traveling, I went over to their website and saw their tour packages of Savannah. Aside from being a gadget buff, I’m also sort of a frustrated architect and I love seeing mansions and old homes. A friend recommended Savannah. She said that they have a Historic Homes Walk that will let you tour Savannah’s stateliest mansions. I saw some pictures of it on the internet and they do look beautiful, I bet they’re even more beautiful if I’ve seen it in person. Anyways, Trusted Tours and Attractions offer a lot of sightseeing tours aside from the History Homes Walk. Another tour that I’m interested in is the Owens-Thomas House, they say that it is one of the town’s most beautiful buildings. Just seeing the pictures and the architectural wonders around Savannah gets me excited. Anyway, maybe if I have time this Holiday Season I might just take a tour myself.

Zipit Wireless Messenger 2 (Z2)

This is the first time that I've come across this product and apparently, it's already on it's second generation. The Zipit Wireless Messenger 2 or Z2 for short, is an instant messaging device that allows you to access instant messengers through the device's WiFi, kinda like Sony's Mylo.

The Zipit Wireless Messenger 2 (Z2) can support all major IM platforms such as YM, AOL, and MSN and best of all, you don't have to pay any monthly or per message fees. Aside from communicating with your friends, the Zipit Wireless Messenger 2 (Z2) also has an integrated music player so you can listen to your MP3s stored on a miniSD card and also allows you to view your photos.

Gateway One

The Gateway One hopes to give the Apple iMac a run for its money. Featuring the same sleek and stylish design—only in black color, the Gateway One looks every bit as delicious as the Apple iMac.

SPECIFICATIONS: The Gateway One is not ALL beauty, it has power too. Underneath the sleek design you will find: a 2.0 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 processor, Intel P965 motherboard, 3GB 667 MHz DDR2 memory, 256 ATI Radeon 2600 XT Graphics card, and a 500GB HDD. It includes, an external ATSC/NTSC TV tuner, 16x dual layer DVD burner, 802.11n wireless network, and comes bundled with Windows Vista Home Premium.

ADVANTAGES: What I like about the Gateway One is how it emanates a wireless aura. There's only one wire emanating from the PC and it can be found at the back of the monitor. It also offers a tool-less upgrading; if you want to add another hard drive, it's as easy as sliding it in unto the back of the monitor, no messy cables or screws. I also like the block power grid that holds the USB and Ethernet ports, you can just place it below your desk and hide away all the cables, preserving the wireless aura.

DISADVANTAGES: What I don't get about the Gateway One is why it has to be so much pricier than the Apple iMac. The built-in speakers also leave nothing to be desired, word of advice: Partner with Altec Lansing. Though the 3GB memory is large, the Gateway One should have sported a faster processor than 2.0 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, I think the 2.0 Ghz is the fastest configuration you can find.

The Sandisk Sansa View

SanDisk isn't really a well-known MP3 player manufacturer compared with Apple, Microsoft, and Creative but they do make reliable and cheap portable music players. The Sandisk Sansa View is the latest addition to their portable music line and is a follow to the e200 music player.

SPECIFICATIONS: Amongst the Sandisk Sansa View's specifications include; 2.4 inch TFT screen with 320 x 240 resolution, MicroSD/SDHC expansion slot, voice recorder with built-in microphone, and built-in FM player with 20 pre-sets.

ADVANTAGES: The greatest advantage of the Sandisk Sansa View over other MP3 players is that aside from having an internal memory which range from 8GB to 16GB, it can be expanded through the use of MicroSD/SDHC which means that the Sandisk Sansa view can have up to 24GB of memory (if an 8GB SD card is used). The Sandisk Sansa View also offers a good battery life..35 hours of audio and 7 hours of video, or so the company claims. The Sandisk Sansa View is also a lot cheaper compared with other mainstream MP3 players.

DISADVANTAGES: The design of the Sandisk Sansa View isn't really that eye-catching so if you view MP3 players as a fashion accessory, then stick with the iPods. Screen resolution is also so-so, sometimes colors appear a little bland. Audio-philes would probably notice the Sandisk Sansa View's lack of bass but average listeners won't probably notice.

MP3 players price comparison

An mp3 player is probably one of the more popular gadgets that will be gifted this Christmas and why not, you can find a lot of MP3 players that are cheaper than it were 5 years ago. 3 years ago you would only probably see MP3 players as stocking stuffer in the homes of the ultimately rich but today, you can find MP3 players that are below $50.

If you’re planning on buying MP3 players to give away this Christmas, you should check out the new price comparison website: SaveBuckets.co.uk. They have a variety of MP3 players that are below 20GBP or $50. You can also find MP3 player accessories if you want to go all out on gift giving. Just remember, you cannot go wrong with gadgets as gifts this Christmas. I’ve read a Consumer Reports Survey saying that more people prefer electronics as a gift and most are disappointed when they receive clothing.

Voice of London Underground sacked

Okay I've just read about this today and I just have to say that officers at the British Underground are just a bunch of "gits" and "prats" with no sense of humor at all. They fired the official announcer for the London Tube System just because she posted some spoof messages ON HER WEBSITE!!

When I was reading through the news article, I thought that she actually said it over the loudspeaker but I went over the article again and saw that she just posted it on her website for fun.

Some of the spoof messages she posted that were in the original London Underground voice were:

"We would like to remind our American tourist friends that you are almost certainly talking too loudly."

* "Would the passenger in the red shirt pretending to read the paper but who is actually staring at that woman's chest please stop. You are not fooling anyone, you filthy pervert."

* "Would passengers filling in answers on their Sudokus please accept that they are just crosswords for the unimaginative and are not in any way more impressive just because they contain numbers."

You can hear other spoof messages on her website: http://www.emmaclarke.com/fun/mind-the-gap/spoof-london-underground-announcements
It's actually pretty funny and I don't know why they would fire her. She should sue them for illegal dismissal or something. Hope she gets a good lawyer and sue their a**es off.

Sony PSPs reached the 1 million mark in Japan

I love my PSP and I always love it when I hear that it's doing good in terms of sales. Reuters just reported that the new PSP version has sold 1 million units in Japan at a quicker pace than the original PSP.

The newer and slimmer version of the PSP was originally aimed to attract women gamers and to compete with Nintendo's DS gaming system which was outselling the PSP in Japan. I guess Sony's tactic worked coz I bought my PSP slim unit just last month.

Toyota's ITS-based Safety Technology: No more reckless drivers

This is an interesting technology under development by Toyota. The vehicle infrastructure cooperative systems uses Intelligent Transport Systems technologies that enables communication between cars and its surroundings. Some cool features of the cooperative systems include:

Road-to-vehicle system for preventing drivers from running red lights:
A roadside transmitter sends traffic light information to the vehicle. When there is a possibility that the vehicle will run a red light, the driver receives audio and visual-display warnings. When necessary, the system helps slow the vehicle to a safe speed.

Road-to-vehicle system for preventing drivers from missing stop signs:
A roadside transmitter sends stop sign information to the vehicle. When the driver overlooks a stop sign and the vehicle fails to stop, the driver receives audio and visual-display warnings.

* Vehicle-to-vehicle system for detecting approaching vehicles:
Mutual information exchange is conducted between vehicles. The driver receives audio and visual-display information regarding an approaching vehicle and its position.

* Pedestrian-to-vehicle system for detecting pedestrians:
Pedestrian-carried devices emit radio signals that are detected by the vehicle. The driver receives audio and visual-display information regarding pedestrians.

* road-to-vehicle system for detecting approaching vehicles.

Holiday Gift Suggestion: Digital Photo Frame

A digital photo frame should be on your list of gifts to give out this Christmas. It’s really cool and if I’m the one who will be receiving it, I know that I would truly appreciate it. I have some posts on my blog about some digital frames I’ve seen but I guess most of them are from PhotoVu. While PhotoVu’s digital picture frames have unique and customizable frames, they can be pretty expensive.

There are actually alternatives to PhotoVu’s digital photo frames. You don’t actually have to spend over $100 for a digital frame as other online websites and some merchants from EBay offer digital picture frames at below $100. One website that specializes in digital frames is www.DigitalFramez.com. They have a wide selection of digital picture frames that would suit any household decor.

The price of a digital photo frame would depend on how big its screen size, screen resolution, design, and other added features such as capability to playback MP3s or videos. Digital picture frame sizes could range from as small as 7 inch and the biggest so far is a 19 inch widescreen digital picture frame.

Cheaper digital picture frames would just have the standard picture slideshow, bland frame, with no MP3, video playback and remote. More expensive models could have WiFi capabilities or an internal memory. Whichever digital picture frame you choose you can always be assured that it will be a welcome gift at anyone’s home.

NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX GPU: The Notebook Gamer's Video Card

The NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX GPU is NVIDIA's new graphics processing unit (GPU) designed specifically for notebooks. Gamers usually shy away from buying laptops since most graphic cards on gaming laptops are not at par as those found in Desktop PCs.

The NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX GPU and other NVIDIA GeForce 8M Series, has the NVIDIA PureVideoHD engine that will allow users to view superior quality playback of HD DVD, Blu-ray, and HD movie downloads.

According to NVIDIA, some notebooks that will incorporate the GeForce 8800M GTX GPU includes: Alienware, Eurocom, Gateway, Sager, AIRIS, Chiligreen, Cizmo, Cybersystem, Ergo, Nexoc, Novatech, Plaisio, Rock, XXODD, MouseComputer, and
Pioneer Computers.

SeeSnake Micro Inspection Camera

Okay, so this is cool, a gadget that will let you see behind those hard to reach places. Have you ever wanted to see what’s in between your walls without taking down your whole wall? Well you don’t actually have to. This SeeSnake Micro Inspection Camera from RidGid will allow you to see your house’s most hard to reach places (not recommended for perverts).

The SeeSnake Micro Inspection Camera has a 2.4 inch LCD with 160x234 resolution, a 17mm camera, and 2 adjustable LED lights. The SeeSnake Micro Inspection Camera’s cable will allow you to reach about 3 feet but is expandable up to 30 feet with the optional extensions.

The SeeSnake Micro Inspection Camera is a great tool for those Do-it-yourself fanatics. Hmm, I don’t know about you but I could see a lot of uses for the SeeSnake Micro Inspection Camera. You probably could use it as a spy camera though you won’t exactly be able to record what you see. And I bet perverts are thinking about great ways of using the SeeSnake Micro Inspection Camera.

Well whether you’re a pervert or a Do-it-yourself kinda guy, the SeeSnake Micro Inspection Camera would be a great addition for your “tools”.

Sucks to be in France

I've just heard the news that France has now a new law that prevents people from file sharing. Internet service providers can now shut down your internet connection if they found out that you've been downloading copyrighted materials such as music and videos.

Though the measure might be effective, I still think that it is too strict. Basically, you're restricting a person's freedom. Though I know that that argument seems a little flimsy, I doubt that the kind of thing that is happening in France will happen in the US. I've read about a lot of Supreme Court decisions that upholds a person's freedom and rights and though I sometimes think that the US is too liberal, it's good to know that that liberality spreads over to Internet usage.

But pirates will always be pirates and hackers will always be hackers and I know that one way or another, they will find a way around this law. The answer? VPN access anyone?

How to Find Huge Discounts at Amazon

Okay so Black Friday already ended, did you get the gadget you wanted or did you miss out since you never liked waiting in line in a parking lot? If you don’t enjoy the Christmas shopping scene you don’t have to worry about spending a fortune on your gifts or a gift for yourself. Amazon.com is a popular shopping website, however, many people shy away from Amazon because with the shipping charges, you would actually end up paying more for the product than when you go to a regular brick and mortar store.

What many people don’t know is that you can actually save a lot of money shopping at Amazon if you just know where to look. Amazon coupon codes are one way of saving when shopping at Amazon. Amazon’s coupon codes range from coupons for batteries, sporting goods, and even digital cameras.

You can also save through Secret Amazon Discounts. Secret Amazon discounts are usually price mistakes on the part of Amazon. Some products are priced far below their retail value. Though these price mistakes are corrected, if you are able to buy an item at below the retail price because of a price mistake you will be able to buy the item without being charged for the full price.

Coupon codes and Secret Amazon Deals are two ways of saving at Amazon but if you are able to buy discount Amazon gift certificate, combined with coupon codes and secret Amazon deals, this translate to huge discounts, maybe even better than what you’d find on other stores last Black Friday, all without waiting in line!

Palm Centro Review

Palm Centro in red
It has been a while since Palm released a smart phone, no thanks to them being too busy with the Foleo and then scrapping it at the last minute. So now the company is trying to redeem itself with a new smart phone design, the Palm Centro.

SPECIFICATIONS: The Palm Centro has a 320 x 320, 16 bit Transreflective touchscreen display, supports dual band CDMA2000 or EvDO network, Palm OS 5.4.9, Bluetooth 1.2, 64MB internal memory that can be expanded with a MicroSD card. Multimedia features on this device includes a 1.3 mega pixel camera with 2x digital zoom and video recording capabilities.

ADVANTAGES:
The Palm Centro has different input options, you can use the touch screen with your fingers or use the stylus that is well hidden, or you can use the QWERTY keyboard. Unlike other smart phones that seems to be geared towards the young professionals, the Palm Centro is priced for the mass market, you won’t see any other smart phone at just under $100. The Palm Centro also runs on EvDO networks which means you will have faster browsing capabilities compared with EDGE networks. It is also comparatively thinner than previous Palm Treo smart phones. The Palm Centro in Pink from Sprint

DISADVANTAGES:
At just under $100, you can’t expect the Palm Centro to have everything; it lacks Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stereo profile. Though the design is attractive, the red Centro is so shiny it looks like a toy. My nephew was so attracted to it that I had to hide it every time he’s around and I have to use it. Since the Palm Centro is a little bit smaller, the QWERTY keyboard also feels a little bit cramped compared with other wider smart phones that have QWERTY keyboards.

CONCLUSION:

The Palm Centro is no doubt the most affordable smartphone in the market today. If you want to give the smartphone a go, you might try using the Palm Centro first before moving to those powerful all-in-one smartphone devices released by HTC and others.

Online Real Estate Finder

I was watching reruns of certain shows in Discovery Channel and saw one episode where they feature some website that lets you buy real estate by taking a virtual tour of the house without visiting it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take down the name of the website. While the idea seems novel it just isn’t practical. I mean, would you really spend your hard earned money on a house you haven’t inspected formally?

Speaking of house moving, my cousin was thinking of relocating to Colorado so he asked me if I knew of any website that would help him sort through the Colorado real estate listing. There are a lot of home finders in the web but sorting through their listings could be hard specially if their “advanced search” feature is not so advanced. But I guess online searching is better than flying over to Colorado and manually going to Real Estate dealers there.

The Fujitsu Lifebook U810

The Fujitsu Lifebook U810 is probably the smallest tablet convertible from Fujitsu. If you're tired of lugging around a heavy laptop, then the Fujitsu Lifebook U810 is your perfect mobile companion.

SPECIFICATIONS: The Fujitsu Lifebook U810 has a 5.6 inch LCD display and weighs around 1.56 pounds. Unlike other Ultra Mobile PCs, the Fujitsu Lifebook U810 is a convertible notebook which means if you're tired of trying to tap on the small keyboard or scrolling using the pointers, just flip the screen around and use your fingers or the stylus. Other specifications of the Fujitsu Lifebook U810 includes an Intel A110 800 MHz Processor , 1 GB DDR2 memory, 5.6 inch Crystal View Touch Screen display, 40 GB hard disk drive, RealTek ALC262 Audio Codec, Bluetooth 2.0, Atheros Super AG 802.11 abg wireless connection, 1 USB 2.0, VGA external display, audio-in, audio-out, power adapter DC-in, Type I/II CF card slot, 1 SD card reader, and integrated web camera.

Advantages: The first advantage of the Fujitsu Lifebook U810 is that for an Ultra Mobile PC, it is fairly cheaper than it's competitors with its price running at just $1,000. Since the Fujitsu Lifebook U810 is a convertible laptop, that's another plus factor since other UMPCs are only "laptops". The Fujitsu Lifebook U810 also offers a variety of input options; keyboard, touch screen, and mouse pointers. Video playback quality on the Fujitsu Lifebook U810 is also pretty decent and battery life is average.

Disadvantages: I think that there could be more room for a screen on the Fujitsu Lifebook U810 if the manufacturers will just make the screen border a little less thinner. I mean, sure, they have to put the fingerprint reader and the web camera somewhere but there's nothing on the left hand side so maybe they could work on the engineering design of the Fujitsu Lifebook U810 if they want to release a 2nd generation of the device.

Levi's The Original Phone (LSO1) Launched in Hong Kong

Okay, so a lot of clothing manufacturer are now incorporating their brand on mobile phones. First there was the LG Prada and now Levi's with their The Original Phone. I guess it's because clothing manufacturers are now realizing that mobile phones are now more than just a convenient device, teenagers are now incorporating their mobile phones into as their own fashion style.

The Levi's mobile phone was launched in Hong Kong. There's really no specs available in the web, all I got is a 2 mega pixel camera and an on board 64MB memory.

Apparently, the Levi's The Original Phone is also called the Levi's LSO1 according to mobilewhack.com. If you love Levi's better get this phone to go with your jeans, if not, good choice, there are a lot of good looking phones in the market with better specs.

First the iPhone and now--the PS3 phone

Oh, I just love the Chinese! I can't wait to visit China and get my hands on all their copied goods. First, during the height of the iPhone mania, some Chinese manufacturers released an iPhone clone and now, they actually jumped the gun on Sony and had released their own version of the PS3 Phone.

Actually, news of this PS3 Phone has been around since May this year but I only started blogging this June. Anyways, Sony filed a patent for the PSP phone almost two weeks after the PS3 phone surfaced. Looks like Sony is trying to protect their patent.

The design of the PS3 phone is not actually that bad. It really does look like a PSP (the black one, that is), the pink one just looks girly and doesn't really nearly resemble the PSP.

But the rip-off doesn't actually end at copying the PSP concept, the phone is from a company called Amycoll, ripoff of the Korean Anycall brand, the PS3 phone also has the windows logo, implying that it runs on a Windows OS but according to the mobilementalism, the OS itself is also fake.

The Amycoll PS3 phone has emulators from Nintendo NES, SNES and GameBoy color so it can probably play your favorite ROMs. Though everything about this phone is fake, this is just SO cool, I mean from the gadget point of view that is. I mean I love my Windows Mobile Device and I just LOOVE my PSP so I'm probably going to ADORE a phone that combines the two.

Though The Amycoll PS3 will probably won't see the light of day in the US, I think that I would probably see this baby popping up in my home country, the Philippines. The last time I was there, I saw the iPhone clone phone so the Amycoll PS3 will probably make it to the underground scene.

I really hope that Sony will release their PSP phone soon. I mean, I've seen people blogging about the Amycoll PS3 and I'm sure while they're all laughing about how fake this phone is, I'm sure they're pretty blown away by the idea. So guys from Sony, if you're reading this, HURRY UP WITH THE PSP PHONE!

AAMCO Drive Hard Die Hard Promo

Okay, so the LIVE FREE or DIE HARD movie will be coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on November 20th. If you’re one of those people who are die-hard fans of the Die Hard movies, I’m sure you’re very excited to get your hands on the DVD or Blu-ray version, I know my boyfriend is. He actually has the previous Die hard movies on DVD. I think they have the unrated version of the DVD so that probably means more blood and gore.

Speaking of the LIVE FREE or DIE HARD movie, you might want to join the AAMCO Drive Hard/Die Hard promo. Just visit the AAMCO website and fill in your details to get a chance to win a trip for two to Hollywood plus a three-night stay at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. You will also get a Die Hard goody bag and though you won’t exactly get to spend the day with Bruce Willis, you will get the next best thing—spend the day with the Die Hard movie stuntman. For us non-Die Hard fans, spending the day with a stunt coordinator isn’t exactly a good thing but believe me, my boyfriend has been logging on to the AAMCO website everyday since there’s a one person per day entry limit, I guess it’s a big thing for him. But I guess the only thing I have to look forward to is staying at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. A free stay at a four star hotel is always a good thing.

HP Photosmart A826: Photo Kiosk Experience at your home

Now really, who would ever want a photo kiosk at their home? The HP hopes to bring you the home photo kiosk experience with the HP Photosmart A826.

Features and Specifications: The HP Photosmart A826 has a 7 inch touch screen display, larger than most compact photo printers in the market, it has a maximum resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi with installed memory of 64MB. You can print pictures via PictBridge or through memory cards. Supported media on the HP Photosmart A826 includes: memory stick, multi mediacard (MMC), SD Memory Card, SmartMedia card, XD-Picture card, Memory Stick Pro, and CompactFlash Card type I and type II, and can handle 100 sheets of 4R and 5R photo papers.

Advantages: The HP Photosmart A826 can print high quality colored photos and has a lot of features including viewing your photos in a slide show, putting frames on your photos, making captions, editing photos, and clip art. The per print cost of the HP Photosmart A826 can compete with other compact photo printers out in the market at 29 cents per print. Another advantage of the device is its large touch screen that enables you to get a more clearer and bigger view of your photos if you ever want to edit without a PC.

Disadvantages: Though the HP Photosmart A826 is branded as a compact photo printer, don't be fooled by the word “compact”. It weighs around 5.9 pounds and lacks any handle for easier portability of the device. It also has a very slow printing speed, a 4R photo took more than a minute and it also doesn't do well printing black colors, darker photos looked dull even on a high quality glossy photo paper.

Dyson DC15 The Ball Vacuum Cleaner

Okay, so I know vacuum cleaners are not exactly gadgets but it’s always good to see cool looking home appliances like this Dyson vacuum cleaner. Does this vacuum cleaner look like Robocop’s foot when viewed sideways? It’s pretty cool looking.

Though this vacuum cleaner does not only appeal aesthetically, it is also powerful. It has a mini turbine head so you can easily remove dirt from upholstery or use it in the car. Dyson vacuum cleaners use their proprietary root cyclone technology that uses centrifugal force to separate dirt from air so that the vacuum’s suction will remain constant. Other vacuum cleaners rely on filters and this could be a problem specially when the filter becomes clogged. The Dyson vacuum cleaner featured in the picture is the DC15 The Ball model and it has a suction power of 220 airwatts and a bin capacity of 2.5 litres. The Dyson DC15 The Ball weighs about 8.6 kg and has a HEPA filter with Bactisafe screen that functions like an ionizer and releases cleaner air.

Dyson vacuum cleaners come with a 5 year warranty but you don’t have to worry about having a hard time finding parts if ever the warranty lapses or is voided since the Dyson online store now has a parts and accessories section. You can easily find the parts you need as it is categorized by model.

The Mist by Stephen King

I've recently watched the trailer of The Mist. Looks like a really suspense filled horror movie. Though I'm not really found of a scary movie specially those filled with blood and gore, the fact that this is a rendition of a The Mist by Stephen King makes me want to have a look. I know that Stephen King's novels are not all blood and gore and would really tease your mind that you'll probably sleep with the lights on for several days.

Speaking of suspense, I'm reminded of a situation a year ago with my boyfriend. I live in a not so quiet neighborhood, there are actually gangs running around here at night and my boyfriend went home a little late and he had to walk to the subway. Well, he was mugged by two guys. They asked him for his money, cell phone, everything. He fibbed, saying he didn't have any, he was carrying a plastic bag at that time, he threw it at them and then ran back towards my house. I wasn't aware that this was going on, I just heard someone banging loudly at our door. I immediately knew that there was something wrong since there was something so urgent about the knock. I quickly came to the door and my boyfriend flew inside and locked the door. I was confused but I saw that he was scared. I asked what happened and he recounted everything. The two guys apparently tried to ran after him and my boyfriend said that he thought he saw one of them carrying a gun. I was scared for him, if I hadn't opened our door on time, the two guys would probably have caught up to him.

We immediately called the cops, a bystander said he saw the two guys ran towards the seedy part of the neighborhood. There were actually a lot of reports of people being mugged in our neighborhood. After that event, my boyfriend wasn't really the same anymore. I mean, he was more cautious, of course, kinda like he's always on the edge.

I felt sorry for him but I guess you would be edgy after your life was just threatened. After that, I just make it a habit of reminding him to go home early or letting him spend the night.

New Playstation Store Launched

Sony has just unveiled the new Playstation Store for PC in North America. The Playstation store will allow PSP owners to download video, play network games, purchase and download games and other services on the Internet using their PCs without the need of a PS3. Users can access the store through: http://store.playstation.com.

I just visited the site and there's really not a lot of content yet. Game downloads are very limited but there are some good looking wallpapers and themes for your PSP. You might want to check out the site from time to time and see if they put anything interesting on it.

Where to Find Good Internet Service Providers

Finding a good Internet Service Provider is very hard these days.. I know some people who really want to change their Internet Service Provider but they don't actually know where to find a good one or how to get out of their current service. I for one would like to change my Internet Service Provider but the choices are limited in my area.

A website that can help you find a new ISP is GetISP.info. They have information on different internet service providers such DSL providers, Satellite Internet, Cable Internet Services and help you compare ISPs. They can also help you find cheap dialup internet access if you still want to stick with the old way of connecting to the Internet.

You can also find a lot of helpful articles on their website such as ways of speeding up your computer, how to protect yourself from spam and viruses, securing a wireless connection, and even an article on how to get out of your current ISP.

New Nintendo DS Gold and Metallic Rose Bundles for the Holidays

Argh! It's like Nintendo is reading my blog and taunting me with the Legend of Zelda! I've been talking about how I'm missing the Legend of Zelda Games on Nintendo gaming systems and now Nintendo has just announced two Nintendo DS Bundles and one of them features the Legend of Zelda game.

The Nintendo DS Gold Bundle comes with a limited edition Gold colored Nintendo DS and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass complete with the series logo on the handheld device.

The Nintendo DS Metallic Rose bundle has a paw print on the DS system and comes bundled with the Nintendogs game where players can train and play with their dogs much like the Tamagochi.

Both bundles will be sold starting November 23.

Artificial Rocks to Accent Your Yard

Okay so let me talk about the very first gadget in world history—rocks. Yes, rocks are gadgets, during the Stone Age anyways. Hey, haven’t you ever seen the Flintstone? Anyways most of us would view rocks as just some useless piece of the Earth but they can actually be used as a pretty good decoration. No, I’m not saying that you go out back, pick up a rock and place it on your mantle I’m talking about rocks that can accent your home.

Have you ever passed by a house that has this huge rock out in their yard that actually accents their garden? I have actually passed by one wherein they have their house number on a plaque and then bolted unto the rock. I thought it was ingenious and that they were lucky that their home already has a boulder on their yard since not most people would have the time to look for a boulder and place it on their front yard. Then I came across a website called Artificial Rocks Factory.

Some of the rocks with address plaques on some people’s houses may not be real rocks after all. Artificial Rocks Factory can make realistic fake rocks with custom address or welcome plaques. Though these rocks may look like 800-1,000 pounds, the artificial rocks are actually hollow and only weigh 50-60 pounds. They also feel real as they are made from cast stone products instead of fiberglass or polyurethane.

When you visit the company’s website you can view their twenty different models that are available and see a 360 degree view of the model from all sides. These address rocks can be bought for $199 with $50 shipping. The fake rocks with address signs can be delivered within 15-20 days while artificial rocks with a welcome plaque can be delivered within 7-10 days.

Dell XPS One Now Available

What is it with PC Manufacturers appending the word "one" on their PCs? First it's the Gateway One, and now it's Dell with their Dell XPS One. Anyways, there's only one thing I can say about the Dell XPS One--WOW!

If the Dell XPS One is as gorgeous in person as it is in the pictures, I would be tempted to get one. Though there's something cute about the Macs being in white, I have always preferred by gadgets to be in black. The Dell XPS One exudes style and power with its looks.

The Dell XPS One's specs are not bad either; 20 inch widescreen, wireless keyboard and mouse, built in web camera, Bluetooth, TV tuner, and speakers, optional Blu-ray disc drive, Core 2 Duo, the works! Come to think of it, the Dell XPS One kinda really looks like the Gateway One only with a more edgy feel. For the complete technical specifications, visit Dell's website.

The Dell XPS One is now available for pre-order with a price range of $1,499 to $2,399 depending on the specifications you choose.

The Benefits of Owning a Mint Credit Card

Some people would shy away from credit cards saying that it would only bury them in debt, while it is true for those who cannot control themselves shopping, credit cards can actually be very useful and beneficial to you.

I have purchased several gadgets of mine using my credit cards, something that I probably wouldn’t be able to do if I rely on my cash on hand. Instead of paying $3000 outright for your gadget, you can actually spread the payment throughout one year, letting you use your money for other investment purpose or use it for more important payments such as your mortgage. And if you’re lucky, you can actually purchase a gadget at zero percent interest depending on which credit card you use.

Mint credit cards offer a lot of benefits. They offer 0% interest on purchases and 0% interest on balance transfers, aside from that, Mint also has special offers from time to time that can translate big savings for you. Last year, Mint has given their customers huge discounts from Chocolate Express, London Breaks, and high street retailer discounts. You can also get a credit limit of up to 7,500 GBP as well as manage and view your statements online.

So if you managed your account wisely, a credit card will not be a source of debt to you but can actually be a source of huge savings.

Nokia N810 Tablet Starts Shipping

After Nokia recently announced the Nokia N810 Tablet, it has now started shipping the device in the United States. The Nokia N810 Tablet is an upgrade from the previous Nokia N800. The Nokia N810 Tablet now features a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

The Nokia N810 Tablet also features a built-in GPS, VoIP and Wi-Fi capabilities. AThe Nokia N810 Tablet uses a Mozilla-based browser (Let's just hope it works just as good as the Safari browser on the iPhone)and can playback music and videos. The Nokia N810 Tablet has a built in 2GB of memory and can be expanded through a memory card. My only qualms about the device is that it's only running on a 400 MHz processor, almost the same processor as my Dopod D810. I don't know how the processor would work with the Linux operating system, but let's just hope that the Nokia N810 Tablet doesn't experience any hanging issues.

Boutique shopping experience online

When people say that they love gadgets, some would automatically brand them as “tech geeks”. It’s okay to be branded as a tech geek as long you don’t actually show it in the way you dress. Though we’re tech geeks, it doesn’t mean that we have to forget about fashion altogether. So today, I’m going to talk about my favorite place to shop online.

My favorite place to shop for clothes online is Tobi.com. Tobi.com offers a lot of high quality, branded clothes, some are already familiar like Seven for All Mankind and Nudie Jeans while others are from up and coming designers. The layout of the website is simple but elegant. It reminds you of shopping on an actual boutique. Navigating the website is very easy; you can either shop by brand or by sex. You can quickly browse through their sale items since there’s a quick link to everything they have on a discount on their home page.

Tobi.com also caters to the environmentally conscious; they have a dedicated web page called Eco-Tobi. Under the Eco-Tobi webpage, you will find environmentally friendly brands that support environmental cause such as wildlife preservation or pesticide free farming.

What I love best about the site is their personal stylist service. You can call or chat with a stylist to help you with your fashion woes. Even if you don’t know the difference between a Nudie and a Nooka, their fashion stylist will help you look your best

New Wii Zapper

The Nintendo Wii just got cooler with the introduction of the new Wii Zapper. The Wii Zapper has a Wii Remote and Nunchuk to better cater to arcade style shooting games. I can see cooler game titles for the Wii in the future thanks to this Wii Zapper.

According to Nintendo, the Wii Zapper will come with Link's Crossbow Training, a game that has the same style as the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I really miss playing Legend of Zelda, maybe I'll get the Wii just to play that game alone.

The Wii Zapper has a price of $19.99 and is available now at retailers.

New Nikon Lens

This new lens from Nikon looks interesting. The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens has a “vibration reduction” technology. So what is this about? Just some new “proprietary” from Nikon that allows you to shoot sharper and blur-free photos even without using a tripod.

The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR is compatible with Nikon DX format and D-SLR digital cameras. The Nikon NIKKOR 18-55mm VR lens offers 3x optical zoom and will be available in December for the price of $199.

Simple Ecommerce Solutions

The Internet has been a growing medium for businesses to sell their products. Recent surveys suggested that more and more people are shopping online and some people even prefer it rather than traditional brick and mortar store. Setting up an online store is easy, you don’t actually need to have a thorough knowledge about web design and css or html or all that since there are some companies out there that provide the whole package you need in setting up your online store. This pre-packaged software is often called Ecommerce Solutions or Shopping Cart Software.

One such company that offers Shopping Cart Software solutions is Ecommerce.networksolutions.com. You can have your business up and running for as low as $49.95 a month or if you want to have every feature, they have another package for $99.95 a month. The website offers a pretty simple layout that anyone starting an online business can easily navigate through it. With their standard shopping cart software, you will be able to use their pre-formatted storefront designs, access to their web-based administration tools so you can access your store anywhere you have an internet connection, and integration with QuickBooks and other large payment facilities. Their Pro ecommerce solutions is geared for those more adept in html since you can fully customize your store design, and a more advanced products inventory, reporting and shipping tools.

Visit the website to see the list of all the features as well as view screenshots of the ecommerce software to see how simple their software really is.

New Mario Party for Nintendo DS

You know what I really miss most about having a Nintendo Game System like my Gameboy? It's those Super Mario and Legend of Zelda Games. The Mario Party DS is the latest in Nintendo's line of the Mario Party Game series. The game features 70 new minigames wireless competition through the use of only one game card.

Oh well, I guess I just have to pray that someone begins making a DS emulator for the PSP. :)

Where to get your Bedroom Furniture Needs

While I usually want my bedroom filled with nifty gadgets, I don’t want it to look like some room in Star Trek, I just want it to look simple and conventional, modern meets classic. I’m thinking about redecorating my room this upcoming month and I came about this furniture store, Home-and-Bedroom.com. The website seems to offer quality bedroom furniture.

Some of the furniture that I came across is from Hillsdale Furniture. If you want your bedroom to look extra classical, they offer medieval looking headboards. But if wrought-iron headboard is not your thing, they also offer simple designs, and what particularly caught my attention is their Daybeds. They have this beautiful Camelot Wood Post Daybed that has an elegant design.

They also have furniture from Fashion Bed Group. One bed that caught my eye from Fashion Bed Group is a modern bed called Kyoto Platform Bed. The bed has a headboard with intersecting vertical and horizontal posts that reminds you of houses in Japan.

Home and Bedroom offers free shipping and has no sales tax so you can save a lot on your furniture needs. Home and Bedroom doesn’t only offer beds, they also have a selection of children’s furniture from nightstands to dressers. And if you don’t know how to mix and match or which furniture will go with which, they also offer decorating tips on their website so you can choose which furniture is right for your home.

New Wireless Controller from Sony seen at FCC

I was browsing around the FCC website trying to locate a decent gadget to write about when this Sony wireless controller pops up at me. I know that Sony already has a wireless controller for the PS3 so I don't know what new features this new one will have.

But if you're interested in browsing around to see what it's all about, here's the link: Sony Wireless Controller.
